• We don't use dominance training  using the 'alpha' or 'pack leader' method is outdated. Many trainers still use this, but this type of training is flawed, it was based on studies done in the 1940's on wolves. Canine's are obviously descendent from wolves who have a pack hierarchy, however this does not mean dogs see humans as the pack leader in the same way it would another dog. Dogs need human leadership and selective breeding and domestication means humans can communicate with dogs in a very special way.

  • Positive Training will give you a better bond with your dog. Dogs love spending time with humans, often more so than other dogs. By rewarding what you do want instead of focusing on what you don't want will build trust. By forcing a dog into submission or using collars designed to create discomfort will undermine your bond and hinder training. Training will not be as effective or as enjoyable for either you or your dog.

  • Exercise is very important as dogs will learn faster and focus better after being exercised. If you can't drain their energy consider a doggie day care centre, we recommend 'Mill Farm Pet Care', or a pet sitter/dog walker such as 'Pet Pals Home Care' or  'Mog and Dog'.

  • Communication is key it is very important to understand a dogs body language as well as helping them understand the human signals and what it is we want.
